Base Notes and Place Holders

Base Notes and Place Holders are counter positions that resist classification and encourage associative leaps.

They offer different ways to question the hierarchies of forms and reimagine the traditional distinctions between subject and object, spectator and participant.

Base Notes and Place Holders is comprised of a series of overlapping investigations: 

on how we can frame sculpture as intimacy... as a placeholder for connection

explore the relations between elevation and support

to rethink the space where sculpture and structure coalesce

and sound (as a counterpoint and extension to both)

to reconsidering the conditions of display

and speculate on the potential of language to embody this expanded realm
